Sweet Illustration!

I wanted to get familiar with using textures in Illustrator, for this illustration, I used masks, however I'm going to look at how to use patterns, and any other ways I can find of working like this, because there might be quite a few. I also found the brush tool, which I didn't realise had so many options. The library of brushes which comes with Adobe I hadn't realised, and of course there will be loads online to download too. Thats exciting, the same goes for textures, theres so many online to download for a small price which can really lift my work.

After doing the planet tutorial, I applied some things I learnt, like gradients, and also put in shadows. This started as just a small heart to practise putting textures on, but I thought I could build it into a small illustration. I duplicated the small hearts manually and moved them around, but I will look into how to make a symbol, which is something I'm aware could increase workflow. Also I could have created a heart brush if it was photoshop which could have given the same effect, but obviously that wouldn't then be a vector.
